GRAMMES HOLDS ON FOR FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON

Joey Grammes of Kunkletown held off a hard-charging Dan Pompey to secure his first win of the season. The Hurricane made landfall in the Crate Modifieds, picking up his first win since returning to Penn Can. Chuck Culbertson, Shane Wolf Jr, Nick Kennedy and Chris Jordan also victorious. Butch Getz and Alan Rudalavage brought the 21-car field to the green flag. The mighty modifieds roared down the front stretch, as another great crowd looked on. It would be Rudalavage taking the early advantage. The veteran had his beautiful blue #145 hooked up and looking strong out front. BRIAN MALCOLM ESCAPES WITH FIRST VICTORY OF 2018. RAY LEONARD EARNS FIRST CAREER WIN IN 602 MODIFIED

Eighty-two cars signed in to Penn Can Speedway on Friday evening, the most the track has had on a regular Friday night show in a handful of years. The first two weeks of the season have been very good for new promoter Chad Towner. Improvements are sweeping and people are taking notice! Brian Malcolm took the top spot early in the 30-lap modified main and seemed untouchable. For the first half of the race, Malcolm kept his #119 machine low and smooth, pulling away from the 18 other cars chasing behind him. Malcolm would soon find company however. Who would have thought just three short weeks ago, that on May 11, 2018, the doors would open on the 2018 season at Penn Can Speedway. A new chapter was started with some familiar and new names in victory lane and new divisions added to the program making their debut last night. Drivers were provided with a racy track, fans were provided a smooth program and great food. Chad Towner, Penn Can promoter, attributed the nights success to his team, crew and the local communities. “I can’t say enough of how everyone has pulled together to open the gates in a short period of time. FRONT STRETCH WALL PROJECT COMPLETED

Penn Can Speedway is happy to say that the reconstruction of the front stretch wall has been completed. Crews have been working all week to get the wall up so that the track would be ready to go for practice on Friday night. Thank you to everyone who helped and made this possible!
